2012 Short-Term Programs

Short-Term Programs are perfect for people who only have little time for volunteering or don’t have the resources for a long-term stay but want to do something beyond just traveling. Our Short-Term Programs are made up of 10 - 15 people from different countries. They work together towards a certain aim, like building a fishpond, constructing a new schoolroom or raising awareness about a certain topics, like HIV/Aids.

You can find the details of every Short-Term Programs below. You can choose the project that suits you best. We are very much looking forward to welcome you at CIVS Kenya.

Anyiko Masasia Dispensary

Dates: 08, January 2012 - 26, January 2012

Location: Emuhaya, Western Province of Kenya

Cost: 265 Euros

Type: Short-Term Program

Volunteers will assist in the construction of the dispensary, collecting sand for construction, brick making activities, sport activities with the local schools/youth and home visit within the community.

Ebulonga Youth Alliance

Dates: 05, February 2012 - 23, February 2012

Location: Emuhaya, Western Province of Kenya

Cost: 265 Euros

Type: Short-Term Program

Volunteers will be involved in farm work that includes land preparation, community work, working on the groups livestock farm, HIV/AIDS awareness campaign, Environmental activities, Animal husbandry (dairy goat keeping), poultry work and fish farming activities.

Konya Akonyi Youth Group

Dates: 12, February 2012 - 29, February 2012

Location: Nyahera, Nyanza Province of Kenya

Cost: 265 Euros

Type: Short-Term Program

The group engages individuals to be united together so as to be in charge of their own development process rather than being dependent on external parties for solution. Volunteers wil be involved in farm work, tree nursery preparation, HIV/AIDS awareness campaign, environmental activities, animal husbandry and poultry work.

Ukwala Rural Development Centre (UCRDC)

Dates: 08, April 2012 - 26, April 2012

Location: Ukwala, Nyanza Province of Kenya

Cost: 265 Euros

Type: Short-Term Program

Ukwala Rural Community Development Centre main purpose is to mobilize community self help groups to participate in grassroots efforts in poverty reduction. Volunteers will be involved in feeding programme, environmental activities, Working in the group farm and HIV/AIDS awareness campaign.

Kivaani Primary School

Dates: 06, May 2012 - 24, May 2012

Location: Eastern Kenya

Cost: 265 Euros

Type: Short-Term Program

Kivaani Primary School is a learning institution offers free primary education to the children in the local community. The school has both orphans and vulnerable children. Volunteers will be involved in construction work, teaching, painting, and coordinating club activities and sport support.

Community Health Volunteers

Location: Kakamega, Western Province of Kenya

Cost: 265 Euros

Type: Short-Term Program

Volunteers will be involved in HIV/AIDS awareness raising campaigns,environmental awareness raising programs, school outreach programs and environmental conservation activities.

Enfants De Mabera

Dates: 03, June 2012 - 21, June 2012

Location: Kuria, Nyanza Province of Kenya

Volunteers wil be involved in brick making, tree planting, sensitization activities on health, FGM and Education, teaching and art/debates with children and sports activities.

Badilisha Eco Village

Location: Rusinga Island, Lake Victoria Region of Kenya

Type: Short-Term Program

Volunteers will engage in the community development programs such as orphan feeding and school support program, farm work, permaculture initiatives, sanitation program, reforestation.

Mwangaza Thursday Women Group

Dates: 12, August 2012 - 30, August 2012

Location: Lugari, Western Province of Kenya

Type: Short-Term Program

The group engages in income generating activities such as organic farming and livestock rearing. Volunteers will be involved in feeding programme, farm work, HIV/AIDS awareness campaign and environmental activities.

Kochieng Women and Orphans Self Help Group

Dates: 09, September 2012 - 27, September 2012

Location: Kisumu, Nyanza Province of Kenya

Type: Short-Term Program

Volunteers will be involved in floor mat making, poultry farm activities, soap making activities, dairy goat keeping, orphans and widows program, HIV/AIDS awareness campaign and environmental activities.

EMPIS - Ahero Centre

Dates: 07, October 2012 - 25, October 2012

Location: Ahero, Nyanza Province of Kenya

Cost: 265 Euros

Type: Short-Term Program

The project is a community oriented project initiated by CIVS with an aim of supporting the orphans and vulnerable children and their caretakers. Volunteers will be involved in Construction work, farm work, poultry farm, tree planting and the repairing access road.

Biogardening Innovations

Dates: 04, November 2012 - 22, November 2012

Location: Western Province of Kenya

Cost: 265 Euros

Type: Short-Term Program

Volunteers will be responsible for facilitation of learning programs at the garden centre, establishment of structures at the garden centre, community outreach for agricultural extension, marketing and development, and mapping out fragile ecosystems in the community for conservation and protection.

Kipawa Community Resource Centre

Dates: 27, November 2012 - 15, December 2012

Location: Eastern Region of Kenya

Type: Short-Term Program

Volunteers will be involved in capacity building, training in leadership and group management skills, feeding program for orphans and vulnerable children, HIV/AIDS awareness, management, training and home based care, construction work, brick making activities and basket weaving.
